I have been working in the field of mental health since 1986 and have a strong commitment to this work. I have witnessed the power of therapy as adults and children move towards a healthier relationship with themselves and the world around them. I moved into private practice in 2011 and began working with children 5 and up, along with their families, and now work with adults as well.
I integrate cognitive behavioral strategies, mindfulness and somatic work, along with expressive modalities to promote healing in a way that honors the individual. Everyone is different and comes to therapy with their own idea of the type of support they are looking for. I am client centered and strength based, wanting my clients to feel validated and supported in our work together.
In my work with children, I see parents as an integral part of the helping process for their child. Enhancing personal strengths is fundamental, therefore, parental investment in the process of therapy is critical. Adding coping skills, exploring different ways of looking at a problem, and self-discovery are paramount in becoming an emotionally healthy individual.
Working with young adults is a special honor for me. This particular stage of development involves some existential work, identity formation, and making sense of our family of origin. It is a rich stage of development, incorporating our own set of values and sizing up the risk in being creators of our own destiny.
