I specialize in work with children, young adults, and families. In my work I utilize a family-centered and person-centered model to guide clients towards their full potential. I consider the family piece to be an important part of understanding ourselves and others, and have great respect for an individual’s capacity to learn, explore, and find meaning in the process of therapy. Families can be a great resource to understanding issues and in moving towards healthier and happier family system of support. All people are interconnected, and those connections are important to understanding who we are, and how to move forward. To that end, I work with adults who are eager to explore their own family history, family dynamics, and family of origin experiences that shaped who they are today. I do help adults process trauma and attachment issues that may have originated in these early relationships, and which effect them in their relationships today.
In my work with children, I see parents as an integral part of the helping process for their child. Enhancing personal strengths is fundamental, therefore, parental investment in the process of therapy is critical. Adding coping skills, exploring different ways of looking at a problem, and self-discovery are paramount in becoming an emotionally healthy individual.
Working with young adults is a special honor for me. This particular stage of development involves some existential work, identity formation, and making sense of our family of origin. It is a rich stage of development, incorporating our own set of values and sizing up the risk in being creators of our own destiny.
